Detail Reviews

Medify MA 15

MA 15 is superior in CADR (150). This rating enables it to optimize effectiveness for a bit larger room. Besides, it features a timer between 0 and 8 hours. The quieter model (35dB) is available with the child lock function.

However, MA 15 is not as compact as MA 14. It measures 15.8 x 9.24 x 9.19 inches for length, width, and height. And it weighs around 6.69 lbs.

Medify MA 25

At a higher level, MA 25 with a CADR of 230 can clean the space up to 500 sq ft quickly. Like MA 15, it features a child lock and a filter replacement indicator as well. In addition to those points, the greatest star of this model is a modern touch screen control panel.

MA 25 comes with more convenient features than MA 15. Despite that fact, the size of these two are the same.

Medify MA 40

Buy it on Amazon.com

CADR of MA 40 (380) is more than 3 times greater than the one of MA 14 (120). Its cleaning function can cover the space up to 840 sq ft in 30 minutes.

Regardless of the powerful operation, we still view this model as the less optimal option than MA 14. It tends to reach the noise level up to 66dB at the highest speed. Not only that, the height of 22 inches will not be suitable for locations like the tabletop.

Design

The device gets a dimension of 12 x 8 x 8 inches for height, width, and length. It looks quite compact in a box shape to sit snugly at any location in the room. You can place it next to the sofa, on the tabletop, bedroom stand, or anywhere else.

Plus, this model is only 4.4 lbs heavy. The lightweight allows you to conveniently grab and move it from one place to another. An adult can even carry the device easily in one hand, for sure.

Another highlight relates to minimalism. Besides a power cord, there is no messy point to drive you insane. Also, a simple control panel in the front is so minimal. It adds more value to the perfection of the Medify MA14 design.

Additionally, the product is available with two color options, white and black. Both of them are suitable for various interior styles. But the former tends to turn yellow the other years. If you are afraid of that problem, the latter should be your priority.

Filters

Model MA14 features HEPA H13 filtration. So, what is it?

The HEPA (standing for High Efficiency Particulate Air) comes as a definition by the U.S. Department of Energy. For HEPA grades, there are H10, H11, H12, H13, and H14. The HEPA H13 almost constitutes the highest one (only after H14).

This filtration is practical to remove around 99.97% of mold, dust, bacteria, etc. Moreover, it can do the best job with even particles of 0.3 microns. People have talked more about its efficiency in preventing the Covid-19 virus from spreading.

For more details, the HEPA H13 filtration consists of three layers. They are the True HEPA filter, pre-filter, and activated carbon filter.

  • Pre-filter: It holds a key in capturing large particles such as dust and pet hair. Without this layer, the HEPA filter could get clogged then.

  • True HEPA filter: It removes allergens such as dust, pollen, and animal skin. The larger this layer, the more effectively it can remove particles.

  • Activated carbon filter: It helps absorb gasses and odors in the room. Hence, you do not have to worry about smoke, food smell, chemicals, and fumes.

You need to pay attention to the Medify Air MA-14 filter replacement. In other words, the frequency of replacing will decide the level of efficiency by this filtration. Also, the manufacturer suggests setting the new filters for every 3-4 months.

Room Coverage

As we mentioned above, the brand labels this model with a CADR of 120 m3/h. It indicates the Clean Air Delivery Rate of the device. With this measure, you can know about its effectiveness rating by different room sizes. A suitable rating should be equal to 2/3 of the room area.

For instance, a space of 150 sq ft typically needs the CADR of 100. In the case of Medify Air MA 14, the CADR of 120 can offer room coverage around 200 sq ft.

That said, it does not matter if you place the purifier in the space of 400 sq ft. But the device probably takes more time for air filtration. For example, it can clean 200 sq ft and 400 sq ft in 30 minutes and 60 minutes, respectively.

Noise Level

The Medify Air MA-14 manual control enables you to adjust three fan speeds. And at the highest level, the device produces noise up to 55dB.

Generally speaking, noise levels of the home equipment often vary from 15 to 70dB. This range shows that MA 14 is not a “quiet” choice. It is likely to disturb any normal conversation.

For people with sensitivity to noise, this mode probably becomes a bad idea while sleeping. As a solution, we suggest setting the air purifier at the lowest speed in your bedroom.

Energy Consumption

The rated power needed to run the MA 14 is 26W with a voltage of 120V. In other words, it seems to use less electricity for operation. The low power consumption generally costs about $9 monthly on average. We apply this expense when you run the air purifier 8 hours daily.

Additional Features

The Nightlight function is an additional feature of this model. It brings a relaxing blue light to your bedroom. Another highlight is the Sleep Mode. This function is to limit the machine to the lowest speed. At the same time, it turns off the lights of the control panel.

Quick Rundown of Medify Air MA 14

Pros

  • Lifetime warranty for parts

  • Powerful fan

  • Portability

  • No ozone emission

  • Ease of control

Cons

  • Noisy operation at the highest speed

  • Expensive filter replacement

Final Thoughts

It is all about the Medify MA 14 review. The air purifier looks so modern in a minimal box shape design. Plus, it features a high-quality filtration system with low power consumption. Despite advantages, this model causes a bit higher noise level. Furthermore, it requires a periodic filter replacement.

That said, the MA 14 is still worth consideration, in our opinion. And you?
